Clos Des Pape 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a prestigious wine from the iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the southern Rhône Valley. Crafted by the renowned winery Clos Des Pape, this vintage is predominantly made from Grenache, complemented by smaller amounts of Mourvèdre and Syrah. The terroir of ancient alluvial deposits and a rocky landscape known as ‘galets roulés’ imparts great complexity and minerality to the wine. Traditional winemaking methods are employed, including fermentation in cement tanks followed by aging for approximately 15-18 months. Notably, the wine is aged in large, old oak foudres which preserves its fruit-driven profile while adding subtle spicy nuances. The 2017 vintage experienced a fine weather balance, resulting in wines of remarkable intensity and balance. It has received high accolades from critics, highlighting its potential for evolution over many years.
