Antonelli Montefalco Rosso is crafted in the lush hills of Montefalco, in the Umbria region of Italy. This wine is a blend predominantly composed of Sangiovese, complemented by Sagrantino and a small proportion of Merlot, enhancing its complexity and depth. The vineyards are situated amidst rolling hills with clayey, calcareous soils, providing the ideal terroir for these varietals. The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel vats, followed by aging in large oak barrels for about 12 months, which softens the Sangiovese’s natural acidity and adds layers of spice and tannic depth typical of Sagrantino. This winemaking process creates a robust and compelling wine with the finesse and structure for which Umbria’s reds are renowned. Antonelli, a historic estate with a commitment to tradition, emphasizes organic farming practices and sustainable viticulture.
