The Matahiwi Pinot Noir is crafted from grapes grown in the Wairarapa region, one of New Zealand’s finest areas for Pinot Noir, known for its cool climate and stony, alluvial soils. The vineyards at Matahiwi Estate benefit from diurnal temperature variations, allowing the grapes to develop intense flavors and maintain bright acidity. This wine undergoes traditional winemaking techniques, including fermenting in small batches to enhance freshness and complexity, followed by aging in French oak barrels for nine months, adding subtle spicy notes and a silky smooth texture. Recognized for its excellent balance and elegant profile, it is a wine that captures the heart of New Zealand’s Pinot Noir reputation.
