The Emergency Bottle
I realized the other day that I’ve always had what I would call an Emergency Bottle.
Not a bottle I’m saving for a special occasion.
Quite the opposite.
It’s the wine I make sure I always have around because I know it works.
It goes with almost anything — dinner, takeout, unexpected company, or simply a conversation that lasts longer than expected.
It’s not so expensive that I hesitate to open it. And it’s not there because it was the cheapest bottle I could find.
It’s just a really good, dependable wine that I enjoy.
When I open it, I replace it.
Which got me thinking…
Should everyone have an Emergency Bottle?
And maybe the more interesting question:
What qualifies as your Emergency Bottle?
Because the real emergency is discovering you’re out.
